What I’ve Learned At VOICE

At Voice, I learned the means of being patient when I encounter something that easily angers me or when I am under pressure. Furthermore, due to our daily memorization of Colossians 3:1-17, I learned that I should be careful of what I say, for words are powerful and can hurt and damage other’s heart and spirit and also my own. I do not want to sin and be a follower of Satan, but a follower of God.

LOVE

Love is the building block of Christianity and is the motive that allowed Jesus to sacrifice himself for mankind. Throughout the past few days, our morning classes have stressed the importance of love. The means of being married, how to behave in a relationship, and what exactly true love is. In Corinthians 13:4, love is defined as the following, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. And above all else, love never fails.”

In class, we have mainly focused on human love and how our corrupted society has created an immoral mentality of love. But now, I want to focus on God’s love for mankind. God summoned his one and only son to earth to bear the sin of all mankind. Jesus chose to sacrifice himself, to wear a crown of thorns, to be whipped and beaten, and to be nailed on the cross. It is only normal that our human nature questions the fundamental principles of Christianity. I cannot question Jesus’ act of love, but I can question why God allowed tragic events in history occur. Back in Oklahoma, we visited the Oklahoma National Memorial. We learned that this incident caused a total of 168 deaths and over 700 casualties. This demonstrates that we, as people, must believe in what we cannot see. All the tragic events of the world such as the OK bombing has either prevented a potential catastrophe or created a future wonder. We all need to have faith in God and understand his decisions. With this, I conclude that due to love, God is COMPLEX and that we should all live like God is real.

Lessons on Love

Nowadays, it’s easy to say “I love you.” But is that true love? Most people know love’s meaning in the Bible -I Corinthians 13:4-8. But they need to know the most important part. God is love! If you want to have true love, you need God! Jesus loves us and even died for us. That’s true love. True love is important to me. I want to love God more and have his true love in my heart.

Things I’ve Learned

I learned much in VOICE. First, I learned how to pray and keep praying every day. Reading the Bible is another one. In the Bible, God told us many truths and how to get along with others. Faith is the journey building in my mind. Concerning my process of learning, vocabulary is the part that I have progressed most.

Forgiveness is the other treasure that I got. I allowed my mind to forgive others. The power and the thought is from God.

The Northwoods

We came to Northwoods on August 3rd. There are many lakes here, and there is a big lake we can go kayaking, canoeing and tubing in.

In Northwoods, we didn’t have any internet and I can’t call Taiwan, either. But I thought it is good for me, because I can be closer with God. I can rest my life in here. It is relaxing.

The thing I love the most here is the view. It is beautiful and the other one is the tubing. It is so fun. Andy and I just make a “fall in the water.” It is so fun. And that is my life in Northwoods.

Team 1

I am the Team 1. My team has Tim, Andy, Jason, Aron, Rex and me. Our team is very wild because our team leaders are very open persons. We often exchange the interest of each other. Each time we have a team prayer, we have very much fun because all of us are very willing to express one’s own argument. So I like this team very much.

Team 2

Team two is a funny team which never is sad or in a bad mood. We laugh whenever we are together. Our big brother, Jerry, led us in a fantastic, interesting, surprising, and crazy way, which opened our mouths to laugh loudly. Being in this kind of crazy team was an amazing grace.

Beside the fun things we had, we were also a team that thought a lot. Not only can we be in a light-hearted mood, but also we can discuss issues seriously and deeply. I learned a great amount of lessons from all the members in my team and found that every person could be my teacher. Most important of all, our relationships became better and better day by day. I could feel that there was a strong brotherhood among us, which led us to cherish each other and think of everyone as a treasure from God.

Jerry is a good leader on our team. I hope that I can learn more from him about leadership so that I can apply it to youth group in Taiwan.

Team 3

In VOICE, I am on team 3. Our team leader is Joel. He was a nice guy. He always takes care of us. In team 3, we do a lot of things together. Not only do we play games, but also we share a lot of things we have learned.

We have to do push-ups, because someone was late, and we do it for the punishment. If the total is more than fifty, we always share the punishment. I like my team. I’m glad to meet my team members.

Team 4

Team 4 is a very lovely team. I’m deeply in love with my team. Here are my team members: Pearl Lin, Elise, Tiffany, Zoe, Laura, Manda Zau, Mary, and our team leader, Faith!

Team 4 shares everything. In our group, there is no secret between each other. Team 4 brings me a feeling of home, I love to talk and share things with my teammates.

We cried and we laughed and we shouted together. Everything in team 4 is wonderful and great.

P.S. Team 4 rules:
-Member must know and do the “dead fish.”
-Every Team 4 member must share their things with everyone in Team 4.

Team 5

I love all members in my team. We like to share our feelings with each other. If someone has any problem, we are willing to give them our advice or help. I’m really happy that I can join this team.

There are eight people in my team, including our leader, Rachel. I still remember that I couldn’t really understand what people said in the beginning, because my English is not good, but after a few days, I could finally understand. I really appreciate that our leader always translates for us.

I like team prayer very much, because each person will share their life story with us. Maybe we’ll be sad about what they say, but we know that God will comfort us, and give us much more strength to go through everything.

I love team five, and I love everyone in my team forever.

Northwoods

Now, it’s the fourth day in the Northwoods. I love it here! We have a lot of forest, lake and bugs here. I don’t like bugs. They’re annoying.

The activity which I love most is boating! I’ve taken a lesson for boating in Taiwan, so I really enjoy boating here. I also love the night scenery here. It’s so awesome! So many stars! I wish I could live here.
