What I’ve Learned At VOICE

At Voice, I learned the means of being patient when I encounter something that easily angers me or when I am under pressure. Furthermore, due to our daily memorization of Colossians 3:1-17, I learned that I should be careful of what I say, for words are powerful and can hurt and damage other’s heart and spirit and also my own. I do not want to sin and be a follower of Satan, but a follower of God.

LOVE

Love is the building block of Christianity and is the motive that allowed Jesus to sacrifice himself for mankind. Throughout the past few days, our morning classes have stressed the importance of love. The means of being married, how to behave in a relationship, and what exactly true love is. In Corinthians 13:4, love is defined as the following, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. And above all else, love never fails.”

In class, we have mainly focused on human love and how our corrupted society has created an immoral mentality of love. But now, I want to focus on God’s love for mankind. God summoned his one and only son to earth to bear the sin of all mankind. Jesus chose to sacrifice himself, to wear a crown of thorns, to be whipped and beaten, and to be nailed on the cross. It is only normal that our human nature questions the fundamental principles of Christianity. I cannot question Jesus’ act of love, but I can question why God allowed tragic events in history occur. Back in Oklahoma, we visited the Oklahoma National Memorial. We learned that this incident caused a total of 168 deaths and over 700 casualties. This demonstrates that we, as people, must believe in what we cannot see. All the tragic events of the world such as the OK bombing has either prevented a potential catastrophe or created a future wonder. We all need to have faith in God and understand his decisions. With this, I conclude that due to love, God is COMPLEX and that we should all live like God is real.
