Weekend Adventures

The first weekend of VOICE/TESOL was jam-packed with loads of activity. We started off with an ethnic twist at the Greenlaw house for a delicious Romanian dinner of sarmale (cabbage rolls), mamaliga (polenta), and tocanita (tomato sauce with chicken) made by an authentic Romanian cook, Mrs. Stefana Copu. Games followed.

Saturday gave the VOICE students a chance to catch up on a bit of sleep in the morning followed by a guided tour of the capitol building of Oklahoma by Audra King (anecdotes included). Pops was the next great stop where the VOICE/TESOL students put a dent into their infamous hoard of 502 different “pops” (or sodas, if you prefer). I had sarsaparilla pop which tasted just like root beer.

Sunday’s highlight, after church and the mall, was a scavenger hunt in the Town of Brick (commonly known as Brick Town) to find 10 of the greater land marks/sights of interest and in teams, take a creative picture of it. The winner of the contest is yet to be announced.

All in all, it was an eventful, refreshing, exciting weekend. The highlight for me was getting time to meet and get to know my fellow classmates, the VOICE students, and staff. God bless and good night.

My Journey to the USA

It is a special opportunity coming here with the VOICE. I hope I can learn the knowledge of Bible and the skill of listening to God’s voice.

Like what the Bible said, “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” So I decide to sacrifice myself to the LORD and follow His Will.

It will be an exciting journey with VOICE in USA. I hope I can see many things I have not seen before, and also make good friends here.

Eyes opened by God consists of a real journey in our life. Through the opened eyes we can find new angles to things and get amazing surprises! Now, I can’t wait to see what will happen in coming time.

Lesson In Faith

Lately, we learned many lessons about faith. Last Sunday, we played some games about faith, such as being guided by other people or lying down on people. It made us understand about trusting. And then Monday, we also had a lesson. We read the bible and shared with each other. Let us know that we should follow God and have true faith in God. After all, God is the Lord of everything. Just follow him. I knew one day I will get a good result.

A Sunday Service

It started, without moving music or touching songs, tears fall down from our cheeks, and a warm feeling filled up the room where we worship God.

It was on Sunday morning, while Mr. Dudley finished sharing the message, he told us that we will take the communion. Before we took it he asked us to wash our heart. Wash our heart? Just like you wash your hands before you eat, we have to keep our conscience clear, before we take the communion. You cannot take the communion if there is still someone in your heart that you can’t forgive, or if you offended someone and didn’t’ ask for forgiveness.

When we sat in group, we started to apologize to others and something amazing happened. People started crying and hugging each other. Some relationship was rebuilt, some broken hearts are healed. The Holy Spirit fulfilled the group of people.

I saw love while all those things happened. That is the love of Jesus. Because of Jesus, we could be forgiven, we could rebuild our relationship. Because of the blood and flesh of Christ, we could be healed.

How amazing is our God. He is so merciful that when we seek His face for forgiveness, He gives us a new life and hope. When we truly come before Him, He will show His amazing grace. How great is our God, He is worthy of all the praises.

It is not because that we are perfect that God loves us, but it is because God is love and loves us for no reason that He gave us His son Jesus. “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me” Hebrews 10:5. It is Jesus who saved us.

Thank you for the love, Lord!

A Memorable Day At VOICE

Last Sunday, we went to church in the morning as usual. But this time, we didn’t go to church but tower. Wes’ father was in charge of the whole meeting. I didn’t know him well, so I was looking forward to hear his speech. It turned out that he was a decent man with feelings. I enjoyed listening to his sharing. It was simple, clear and influential.

Most of us cried during the whole meeting. He made us a new chance to know God. He made me know God will loves me no matter whether I love him or not. God will be with me no matter whether I am successful or not. Even though I was baptized before, when Wes’ father asked people who admitted himself a sinner and willing to put God in the first place of life then came forward and he would pray for us. I went! I cried out loud, feeling a different person again, I know God will be with me forever.

My Weekend

This weekend was the best of all. I really love the Northwoods, this place is beautiful!

On Saturday, we celebrated the 4th of July. It’s my favorite festival of all. We played all kinds of games and played volleyball beside the lake, and there’s so many time that the ball just falls into the lake. We had hamburgers and hot-dogs for supper. I ate a lot!

The most fun part of the day was after the games. We have some free time before supper, so Stanley and I jumped into the lake. The water was warm and clear. I love being in the water! I had a lot of fun this weekend, and I believe that I will never forget it.

Something I Learned in Team 2

Our team leader is Luke. Simon, Cary, Jeffrey, Stanley and Gregory are my team members. They come from Taiwan, U.S. and Hong Kong three different countries, but God used VOICE to bring us together. I learn in the right time said something is right or at right time do something is right from Simon. And this is the second time Cary came, so his experience can help me use less time. Stanley can make team get high. Jeffrey is always quiet, but it’s not really him, he also can make the team get high. Gregory wanted to become a missionary, I think he can succeed. Sometimes he also tells jokes to us, let me laugh, and for example to show we how to do it. So many things I should learn, but I can’t stop learning. Team 2 is the greatest group in my mind, so I am proud I can be a member of this team.
