What I learned this morning

This morning, I cried.

Karen shared her life story with us. She told us that how God changed her, made her through those difficult times. She told us that God wanted us to give Him everything, including ourself. She asked us, “Are you willing to give everything in your life to God?”

After her story, we thought about this question for a while. I prayed to God. I told Him that I was sorry. I didn’t give everything to Him, but today I wanted to. So I cried out to the Lord, I said to Him, “Please teach me how to give myself back to You.” I realized that God is the only one I could trust. He is the only one could take care of my life.

My skirt was wet because of my tears.

Thank you, dear Lord. Thank you for this important lesson.

Something I learned This Morning

Karen said we should give all of the things that we love to God. It’s very hard to do it! Most of us cried when Karen ask us to pray to God about this.

I didn’t cry because I already give all of my hobbies to God. I told God that I’m going to give Him my soccer, my piano, my computer and also if I have my girlfriend one day… At least I have a wonderful Savior. He’ll be with me always!

Chinese New Year

This is the most special Chinese New Year for me. The reason why it is the most special for me is that this is the first time I celebrate Chinese New Year with foreigner. And it is the first time not celebrate it with my family. But the thing that made me most happy this Chinese New Year is that I can eat the Chinese food. I very like the food which was cooked by Mrs Chen. My most favorite cuisine is Chengdu chicken. But I know that I never like American rice. And the other thing that made me happy is that I can see my host family again. Although this New Year didn’t have red-envelope, but I still very like this New Year. Hope I will have another chance to celebrate with foreigner and show them how delicious Chinese food is.

Always Thankful

Ephesians 5:20 says “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

It was so amazing to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with all of the VOICE students. It was really special to watch them experience this holiday and learn how God provided for America from the very beginning. When dinner started, we were each given a blank paper leaf, and after we had eaten, each person wrote down something they were thankful for and hung their leaf on a poster. It was wonderful to see how the students recognized God’s blessing in their lives. Even after the rough trip they had in getting here, each student had a thankful spirit to the Lord for His protection and for the adventure. I am thankful for all of those students and praise the Lord for this chance to learn with them.

Christmas in July

Yesterday we had a special Christmas dinner. We had a sweet rice (I did not know the name) and apple pie (with a lot of cinnamon, I don’t know why Americans have to add cinnamon to any desserts…) on the table. And we also played a game to guess what was in the sock. Only Vivian and I were interested in the game, because the other people in our table were all adults. After the dinner, we went ice-skating. It was my second time to skate on the real ice, so when I just started to skate, I felt a little nervous. A large part of the time I skated with Melanie. We fell down many many times, and we kept screaming and laughing. At the end, our knees were covered in bruises, but I think it is the funnest part in ice-skating. I enjoyed both the Christmas dinner (especially the ice cream!) and ice-skating. The Christmas in July was really great!

A Day In VOICE

Beep, beep, beep…Smash! It’s 7 o’clock in the morning, and a new day of VOICE will begin. On July 16, 2008, I woke up at 7, smashed the alarm clock to let it stop ringing, then opened the curtains. it was a bright and beautiful morning and from the windows, I saw the boys coming back from PT. Then I picked out my clothes, changed in to them, washed my face…etc. And rushed to my group at 7:30. Our team read a chapter in John, and talked about the characters that Jesus showed.

After I ate breakfast, I listened to the Basic Seminar, and learned about the seven principles of life. That day, I learned about the principle of ownership. Before the lesson, I wanted to have control in my life, and I wanted to have a lot of rights to do stuff. But that lesson told me that I have to give everything to God and let Him be in control. And when I let Him be in control, I wouldn’t be angry when things didn’t go my way.

It was Christmas that day, so after lunch, English class (in which we talked about baseball because we will be going to a game on Saturday), and electives, we had our great Christmas dinner! But the best part was after dinner – ice skating!

I love to ice skate! The smooth, cold ice for us to leave our marks on it was so pretty. I got a pair of ice skates and hurriedly put them on so I could got on the ice as fast as I can. I love the feeling of skating across the ice, it really feels like flying! However, time flies fast when we’re having fun, so a moment later, time was up. As we went back, everyone was tired, but very happy. It was one of the most terrific days in VOICE.

Something I Learned Today

Today we went to the Oklahoma CityNationalMemorialMuseum. This event was shocking to me, because it’s so cruel. When I saw many picture in front of my eyes I was so sad, because they all are people that died. The pictures are behind the objects, and there are many different things in there, such as lipstick, a car, a key, a ball, family’s picture, a pacifier and so on. I think they are something important or memoirs. When I saw the Chairs, Gates of Time and Reflecting Pool, my emotion was down, and I hope that incident would have never happened before. Though this even has occurred, but I believe God has his reason as like the sufferer forgiven the prisoner, this is the most thing that touched my heart. I want to learn the homework of forgiveness or ask someone to forgive me, I think this is most important in my life, because we all have crimes. If we can do this best, I think God will be joyful with us.

Valentine’s Day

Wow! This is my first time to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Anything is very fresh to me, and the sentiment in the dinning room is very romance. All boys dress man’s suit just like go to the church. I think that is more formal than girls. I don’t have any pink clothes, so I didn’t change my clothes, I think I dress very random the same with morning. The dinner had my favorite food – “Italian noodles”, and all drinks were in the table, we don’t have to go and take it. At my table there was one boy. I think he feel so lonely. I love the dessert, although it’s very sweet, but since we don’t eat it every day, it’s OK! We had some program, listen to the boys, who sing the song. I think it’s very fun, and such high we get from them. After that, I help boys to let the place return to original. I take many pictures of this time. I am very happy but tired that night.

Weekend Highlight

Yesterday we went to a very good church called…I forgot. It was such a huge church that I had never seen before , it also had its own car parking lot. Wow, it was so huge. After we went into the door, suddenly we saw the flag of Taiwan. All of us were really happy about that because we didn’t expect that would put the flag of Taiwan over there. And I sat down starting to pray so that I can prepare my heart. To be honest with you, I didn’t enjoy their worship at all because of the language barrier. But when the pastor began to preach, strangely I found I could understand what the pastor said! Wow, let’s gave God a big hand! And what the pastor said really touch my heart, I realized the sins stuck the relationship between God and me. So when the pastor invited us to go to the platform to repent, I made up my mind and went forward because I wanted to recover the relationship between God and me. Thank God and thank Jesus, by the blood of the lamb I could be a new man in Christ.

The First Weekend At VOICE

It’s the weekend. The first week of VOICE is over and the weekend bliss has begun. It’s Sunday and we are just about to head out to Bricktown for a night of shopping and ice cream. Last night was an awesome night at the park. As we were about to load into the vans to make our way to the park, Wes made an announcement of what to do if it starting pouring rain. The sky was getting dark and everyone could hear the occasional thunder. We all cringed as we where on our way over to the park, crossing our fingers in hopes that the rain would hold over until after our fun was over. As we all gathered at the park to begin playing a hilarious game of “capture the ball”, Wes told the students that he thought we should just pray and ask that God would just hold back the storm so that we wouldn’t have to go back. So we as a group, bowed our heads and made a simple request asking God to interfere in a way only He could.

The games began. Whether It was kicking around a soccer ball in bare feet, swinging, football…everyone had loads of fun. We played and played, and still no storm. As we starting packing up to go back a couple hours later, it occurred to us that the storm passed right over us.. That’s just how amazing our God is. 🙂 It was an awesome display of His power and how much He cares about even the small things.

This past week, for me, has been a continual reminder of the power of our Heavenly Father. I can’t wait to see what God has for this week….

Oh and I wouldn’t recommend playing soccer without shoes. You might be in some pain the next day. 🙂
