The Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum

Today we go to the Memorial. There is a good place to take photos!

Then we go in the museum to look at the memory of the OKC Bombing. It’s really terrible to see the broken things. It’s difficult to imagine how powerful it is! The Lord’s power is even more!

Then we see outside. We draw on the ground in the children’s area and sign our name on it. We take photos from the survivor tree in the Murrah Plaza. We like to take pictures of the pool. We can see two buildings in the picture – one is the reflection of the building. That’s also nice color in the pictures.

We take many pictures back. It’s a nice day.

The Memorial

We went to Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum this afternoon. Before we went to the memorial, we already knew about the accident by reading the report. I think it’s such a terrible explosion that so many people died and were injured.

When we arrived there, we went into the Memorial. I felt really sad when I saw the video about the explosion. There were so many people injured and killed in the accident, including children and adults.

Morning Classes

This summer is a very important moment in my life. Because I graduated from college, my life is beginning. I can’t waste time on meaningless things. I know I need to change before I go into this wild world.

Basic Seminar is a helpful class for my spirit. Even though I think I read Bible every day and I know a lot about God, the Basic Seminar is a new experience for me. It challenges me to live like God is real. I pray to God to give me energy so I can take the class powerfully.

Team Devotions

We have team devotions every Monday to Saturday morning. Today is the fourth day that we have team devotions.

I couldn’t get used to the team devotions for the first few days since I didn’t read the bible frequently in the past. However the situation has changed today. God has touched me deeply today.

“So that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father who is unseen, and your Father who sees what is done in secet will reward you.” These phrases are from Matthew chapter 6, verse 8. I read this in today’s team devotions. I can really feel that God is teaching me that I should not be showing off anymore which I used to be. Even though there’s none on earth that know what you are doing, God knows.

Team devotions are really a great time that we can understand God’s word and have a closer relationship with God.

Today’s Highs and Lows

I play the mother role in our musical. There are quite a lot of lines to say. I feel a little pressure from it. But I’m much more concerned about the solo parts of the songs. Although I was a member of my high school’s chorus, my voice often cracks. Especially in the high singing range, like my solo parts. Maybe I’m not using the right part of my body to sing. Thus I’m afraid of not singing well. I hope I can do it better than today by practicing late. That was the low part of today.

The high part was Thanksgiving, I really liked the decoration, the food, and the atmosphere of Thanksgiving. And when we were sharing our thankful things, I was really grateful for what God had given to us.

A Taste of Oklahoma

Although we seldom go out, I still have some feelings about Oklahoma. Here is hotter than Taiwan, but Taiwan is much wetter I think. THe distance of every house is really far. So the living environment is great. If I want to move to another city, maybe Oklahoma will be the perfect choice. I still remembered that we went to see the capital of Oklahoma last Saturday. It’s really special that something hidden under the ground, such as oil and golden car.

After that, we went to Pops to get a bottle of pops that we like. There are hundreds of pops there. It’s a special place that I’ve never been before. I think we will still stay here for more than one week, maybe I’ll find more special and interesting things of Oklahoma.

Weekend Adventures

The first weekend of VOICE/TESOL was jam-packed with loads of activity. We started off with an ethnic twist at the Greenlaw house for a delicious Romanian dinner of sarmale (cabbage rolls), mamaliga (polenta), and tocanita (tomato sauce with chicken) made by an authentic Romanian cook, Mrs. Stefana Copu. Games followed.

Saturday gave the VOICE students a chance to catch up on a bit of sleep in the morning followed by a guided tour of the capitol building of Oklahoma by Audra King (anecdotes included). Pops was the next great stop where the VOICE/TESOL students put a dent into their infamous hoard of 502 different “pops” (or sodas, if you prefer). I had sarsaparilla pop which tasted just like root beer.

Sunday’s highlight, after church and the mall, was a scavenger hunt in the Town of Brick (commonly known as Brick Town) to find 10 of the greater land marks/sights of interest and in teams, take a creative picture of it. The winner of the contest is yet to be announced.

All in all, it was an eventful, refreshing, exciting weekend. The highlight for me was getting time to meet and get to know my fellow classmates, the VOICE students, and staff. God bless and good night.

My Journey to the USA

It is a special opportunity coming here with the VOICE. I hope I can learn the knowledge of Bible and the skill of listening to God’s voice.

Like what the Bible said, “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” So I decide to sacrifice myself to the LORD and follow His Will.

It will be an exciting journey with VOICE in USA. I hope I can see many things I have not seen before, and also make good friends here.

Eyes opened by God consists of a real journey in our life. Through the opened eyes we can find new angles to things and get amazing surprises! Now, I can’t wait to see what will happen in coming time.
